Masha Hupalo

is a researcher and architect who writes and teaches in Los Angeles. Her current work focuses on the way policy and high-frequency data inform planning and design, the legal construct of territory and borders, and new forms of governance and ownership.

Surplus Land
  • This collaborative effort of a group of graduate students, community members and T.R.U.S.T. South LA aimed at creating housing design prototypes for city-owned vacant lots in South LA that Community Land Trust can develop into perpetually affordable homes. Students developed proposals for three different lots.
