Masha Hupalo

is a researcher and architect who writes and teaches in Los Angeles. Her current work focuses on the way policy and high-frequency data inform planning and design, the legal construct of territory and borders, and new forms of governance and ownership.

Organizing Lists, Thoughts and Realities
  • The studio presented contemporary forms of theory-making and pedagogy informed by pressing issues of human rights, spatial justice, inclusion, and climate change that are radically redrawing civic life. We explored how lists and indexes organize knowledge, preserve individual and communal memories, produce lasting forms of harm, and radically affect our personal and political lives.
