- In this essay, I examine how passive dashboards of the 2010s evolved into mobile-first applications featuring dynamic filtering, virtual tours, and return-on-investment calculators. I focus on three platforms that represent this shift. Lofty is a marketplace platform that enables users to purchase and sell digital tokens representing fractional shares of real estate almost instantaneously. Restb.ai specializes in AI and computer vision for the real estate industry, allowing for the automation of property condition analysis through photos, generation of listing descriptions and search for properties with similar features. Finally, I analyze Zillow as an example of the mainstream normalization of proptech innovations.
